BACP Accredited Counsellor in Faversham

Accredited Counsellor in Faversham

I’m a BACP Accredited Counsellor based in Faversham, Kent, offering a warm, grounded, and collaborative approach to therapy. My work is centred on the belief that counselling is most effective when it’s shaped around your needs, your pace, and your lived experience.

I draw on a range of therapeutic models and adapt them to what feels most supportive for you. This flexibility allows us to explore your thoughts and feelings in a way that feels safe, manageable, and meaningful.

What does BACP Accreditation mean?

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is one of the largest professional organisations for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.

Within the BACP there are three membership levels:

  • Registered Member
  • Accredited Member
  • Senior Accredited Member

Accreditation is a recognition that a counsellor has achieved a substantial level of professional training and practical experience.

To become accredited, counsellors must provide detailed evidence to the BACP demonstrating:

  • Extensive client practice hours
  • Ongoing professional supervision
  • Relevant professional training
  • A clear explanation of how they apply counselling theory in their work
  • Evidence of safe and ethical practice

The accreditation process also requires counsellors to reflect carefully on their work and demonstrate how their approach supports and benefits their clients.

For clients, working with an accredited counsellor provides reassurance that the counsellor has met recognised professional standards and is committed to maintaining high levels of practice and accountability.

My approach

I see counselling as a shared process. Rather than telling you what to do, I offer a steady, reflective space where you can explore what’s happening in your life with someone who is fully present and non-judgmental.

I will be collaborative in my approach, always seeking to understand and truly accept your experience as it is, to be curious about your process and to challenge it where necessary. I will listen and reflect on your ways of thinking, feeling and behaving - paying particular attention to the beliefs, rules, expectations and ways of relating that can keep us stuck in cycles. Often, those very same cycles will have been helpful at one point in our lives so it can, at times, be helpful to explore your past. I will reflect on the relationship that develops between us and use this as an important barometer for how you are experiencing the work.

Together, we’ll look at what may be contributing to your difficulties, gently uncover patterns, and create space for new perspectives or possibilities. I check in regularly to ensure the work feels helpful and aligned with what you need.

I hope to create an alliance where you experience enough trust and safety to reflect openly and honestly on yourself,  the counselling process and the relationship that develops between us.

Qualifications & experience

I qualified with a Level 6 Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Inter-Psyche Training Institute.

My core training taught an integrative approach that draws on cognitive (our thoughts), psychodynamic (our past) and humanistic (our human experience) theories, all underpinned by a relational framework. I have also completed additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which I incorporate into my work when appropriate.

Before setting up my private practice, I worked at Faversham Counselling Service (also known as FCS Talking Therapies) for four years until it closed in December 2025. During my time with the service, I gained extensive experience in general adult mental health, working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, anger, stress, grief, and relationship difficulties.
